PSG’s Gonçalo Ramos out of Borussia Dortmund tie

Gonçalo Ramos (22) has been ruled out of Paris Saint-Germain’s crucial UEFA Champions League tie against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night.

Ramos was already a doubt for the game. During Tuesday’s pre-match press conference, held in Dortmund, Luis Enrique said that the Portuguese forward had been left behind after showing flu-like symptoms. However, the Spaniard alluded to the possibility of Ramos making the trip to Germany on Wednesday, before the match.

However, as reported by L’Équipe and RMC Sport, Ramos is now certain to miss the encounter and has remained in Paris. The former Benfica was not expected to start regardless. Kylian Mbappé (24) has been playing a “free role” in recent games, which has seen him occupy the No.9 position. Bradley Barcola and Randal Kolo Muani are expected to start on either side of the France captain.

PSG have their destiny in their own hands heading into the match against Dortmund. A win and their progression to the knockout stages is secured. Anything else, and they risk being pipped by Newcastle United, who come up against AC Milan.
