Monaco’s Ismaïl Jakobs “not happy” with lack of playing time

Ismaïl Jakobs (23) has voiced his discontent at his lack of playing time at AS Monaco this season but added that he is not yet considering his future at the Principality club, and is merely focused on playing as much as possible between now and the end of the campaign.

The Senegalese international has played just 1104 minutes in all competitions this season. Despite featuring in 27 Ligue 1 games, only eight have been starts. In the absence of Aleksandr Golovin against RC Lens last weekend, Jakobs started at the left of Monaco’s midfield.

Speaking in a press conference, attended by Get French Football NewsJakobs voiced unhappiness with his playing time this season. “I think that it is normal that every footballer’s ambition is to play as many games. I’m focused on the end of the season, finishing as high as possible, and playing as many minutes as possible. Of course, I’m not happy when I don’t play. In these situations, you have to put the team first. There is no time to be upset and frustrated because we have goals to reach,” he said.

Jakobs’ route to the starting XI is blocked by Caio Henrique, who has nine assists this season in Ligue 1. Only Lionel Messi, Neymar and Jonathan Clauss have more.
