Monaco, AC Milan and Eintracht Frankfurt make advances to sign Montpellier’s Elye Wahi

According to L’ÉquipeAS Monaco, AC Milan and Eintracht Frankfurt have all made contact over the signing of Montpellier forward Elye Wahi (20).

Despite a season of two halves for Montpellier, Wahi has been a consistent performer, scoring 13 times and registering four assists this season. The France U21 international has a contract that runs until 2025, and it is thought that this summer will be the perfect time for the Ligue 1 club to cash in on their talented asset.

Wahi is already drawing widespread interest, and rated at just over €20m, which could be perceived as good value relative to some of the prices being touted for players of similar age and profile. L’Équipe are reporting that AC Milan, Monaco and Frankfurt have all made contact.

Whilst the deal could be financially difficult for Milan to pull off, both Monaco and Frankfurt possess the financial means to make the transfer. Les Monégasques are seemingly well-placed to welcome Wahi to the Stade Louis II this summer, especially in light of the Frenchman’s comments during a recent interview with France Bleu Hérault.

Wahi was asked about his preferred move. The Frenchman replied, “Ligue 1. Why not? I have always said that I don’t want to skip stages and I want to go step by step. We’ll see what is offered, but as I’ve always said, I’m at Montpellier and I’m very happy here. We’ll see where the wind takes me.”

Téléfoot have previously cited Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Borussia Dortmund as potential destinations for Wahi, who looks very likely to depart Montpellier during the upcoming transfer window.
