Valentin Rongier misses Marseille training on eve of Coupe de France tie

La Provence journalist Fabrice Lamperti has revealed that Olympique de Marseille midfielder Valentin Rongier (28) was absent from training on the eve of the club’s Coupe de France quarter-final against Annecy.

Marseille are arguably the favourites to win the cup this year, having dumped Paris Saint-Germain out of the competition in the last round. Olympique Lyonnais and RC Lens are arguably the biggest threats to Marseille, although last year’s holders, FC Nantes, are also still in the competition.

However, Rongier was absent from group training on the eve of tomorrow’s tie against the Ligue 2 outfit. According to Lamperti, the Frenchman was absent for personal reasons, although it is expected that he will return for tomorrow’s match.

The same cannot be said for Samuel Gigot, who was absent from Les Phocéens’ 3-0 defeat against PSG in Ligue 1 on Sunday. He was once again absent from group training on Tuesday.
