Lyon’s Maxence Caqueret: “Cup run could give us a needed boost.”

Speaking ahead of Lyon’s Coupe de France quarter final tie against Ligue 2 side Grenoble on Tuesday evening, midfielder Maxence Caqueret spoke about how a potential place at the Stade de France in the latter stages of the competition could give a boost to Laurent Blanc’s struggling Lyon side this season. The following was transcribed by L’Équipe

It’s a very important match, but like all matches at the moment. It’s true that it could give us a boost to the season, with a game at the Stade de France at stake,” said the Frenchman, adding that “We know that this is the shortest route to Europe for us. It’s going to be difficult against Grenoble but we have to go through it.”

Whilst Caqueret is aware that Lyon are not in the best of form of late, he says that Les Gones are fully focused on the task ahead against the Ligue 2 side. The match will be played tomorrow night at the Groupama Stadium (21:10 CET)
