Monaco’s Eliesse Ben Seghir ruled out until 2024

AS Monaco manager Adhi Hütter has confirmed that Eliesse Ben Seghir (18) will be absent until the end of the calendar year. The France youth international may even require surgery after sustaining a shoulder injury.

Ben Seghir was one of the revelations of Ligue 1 last season. The Diagonale academy product burst onto the scene post-World Cup, netting a brace on debut before cementing his place in Philippe Clement’s starting XI. The forward then featured prominently under Hütter in pre-season, however. he suffered a thigh injury just before the start of the Ligue 1 season, which ruled him out until mid-October.

The Frenchman was working his way back to fitness, coming off the bench in the Principality club’s last two matches, whilst also featuring for the Groupe Élite. It was during a match with the academy side that he suffered a shoulder injury, which now looks set to rule him out for an extended period of time.

I am a bit sad about Eliesse’s injury. He may need an operation. We don’t know how long he will be out, but he will be out at least until the end of the year,” said Hütter in Friday’s press conference.
