Man arrested after threatening to bomb Parc des Princes during Le Classique

According to BFM Île-de-France and RMC Sport, a man was apprehended on Sunday evening during Paris Saint-Germain’s Classique clash against Marseille after threatening to bomb the Parc des Princes. The person in question was previously highlighted as a national security threat by French authorities and attacked a tourist in a Parisian café, according to police sources.

The events occurred approximately an hour before kick-off, when the man in question called the French police – claiming that he intended to plant a bomb in the Parc des Princes. A search for the suspect reportedly lasted two hours, as reported by RMC Sport. The man was found near a metro station in the 15th district of Paris, without any dangerous items.

The individual had also attacked a tourist in a café near the Parc des Princes, and claimed to be an intelligence service agent upon his arrest.

Now in custody, the man is currently undergoing psychiatric evaluation in hospital, before the authorities delve into his background and the circumstances behind his actions.
