Ligue Méditerranée match investigated for fraud

A Regional 2 (R2) match between AC Arles and FC Septèmes, which ended in an emphatic 22-1 for the former, will be investigated by the regional disciplinary commission, according to L’Équipe.

The victory would have taken Arles to the top of their division on goal difference with just one game of the season remaining. The suspicious result will now be investigated by the league.

Ligue Méditerranée president, Eric Borghini, has said, “I have asked my services to refer the matter to the regional disciplinary commission in order to open a file of suspicion of fraud with an investigation.”

On the Méditerranée FFF website, the result has, for now, been removed and Arles therefore remain 3 points behind FC Martigues 2, with an inferior goal difference (-9) and one game fewer played.
