OFFICIAL | Axel Disasi signs for Chelsea

Chelsea have continued their spending spree, confirming the signing of Axel Disasi (25) from AS Monaco. The France international has signed a six-year deal with the Blues.

As confirmed by the Monégasque club, the French international is leaving for London. He completed his medical yesterday afternoon.

According to L’Équipe, the transfer fee is in the region of €45 million. This is Chelsea’s sixth signing of the summer, reinforcing the backline after former Leicester City defender, Wesley Fofana, picked up another knee injury last month.

Disasi will be teaming up with former Ligue 1 players such as Thiago Silva, Malang Sarr, and Christopher Nkunku. He will also reunite with former Monaco centre-back partner Benoît Badaishile, who is also currently sidelined through injury. Disasi came through the ranks of Paris FC’s academy, before making the switch to Reims in 2016. After impressing for three seasons, AS Monaco picked him up for €13,5 million, where he excelled alongside Badiashile.

After many injuries set aside regular squad members, Disasi was even called up for the French squad to play at the World Cup back in November. He played 90 minutes against Tunisia, before coming on against Poland and in the final against Argentina, playing at right-back
