Ezequiel Lavezzi hospitalised after being stabbed in Uruguay

Former PSG forward Ezequiel Lavezzi has been hospitalised after he was stabbed in the abdomen following an argument in Uruguay, according to South American media outlet Clarin. In addition to a small puncture in his abdomen, Lavezzi sustained other injuries during the argument including a fractured collarbone.

The former Argentina international has been hospitalised in the Punta del Este region of Uruguay. Following his retirement in 2019, Lavezzi has been known to enjoy partying. This altercation which resulted in serious, but not life-threatening, injuries to the former Napoli forward took place following a party at his home. The argument reportedly took place at 5 am on Wednesday.

Other media sources including TyC Sports have reported that Lavezzi’s family have disregarded these reports of a stabbing. The former attacker’s family say that he fell from a ladder whilst changing a light bulb which caused him to sustain multiple injuries.

Lavezzi retired from football in 2019 having played for Paris Saint-Germain among other clubs. The Argentinian was one of the first signings of the QSI era at the Parc des Princes and played 161 times for Les Parisiens.
