Hugo Lloris turns down Lazio move

According to L’Équipe, Hugo Lloris has turned down the opportunity to join Lazio from Tottenham Hotspur. The Roman club had found an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur over a transfer for the former France captain, believed either to do on a free transfer basis or for a nominal fee.

Despite confirming his desire to leave Tottenham this summer, Lloris has turned down the opportunity to move to Serie A. The former Nice stopper wants to be the number one choice at his new club and that was not guaranteed to be the case at Lazio. The former France captain would have been expected to compete with Lazio’s current keeper Ivan Provedel.

Despite the collapse of Lloris’ proposed move to Italy, the Tottenham captain is expected to leave North London this summer, after the club secured the services of Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli. The 36-year-old has also received interest from PSG and Inter this summer, but game time was expected to be limited at both clubs.
