‘I want this to be my last club in Europe’ – Antoine Griezmann clarifies his Atlético Madrid future

Antoine Griezmann’s (32)  future at Atlético de Madrid was made a little more certain following a post-match interview with TNT Sports Brasil

The French international speaking after the club’s victory over SS Lazio (2-0) in the Champions League, considered where he wants to play following the expiry of his contract in 2026.

Griezmann stated, ‘I want this to be my last club in Europe, and then to enjoy elsewhere.’ This was a comment that seemingly suggested that the forward would be open to the possibility of extending his career by making a move to play in a different continent.

However, Griezmann clarified that his preference would be to remain at Atlético past his current contract, ‘I want to continue here. I’m at the level that my team needs of me. I’m playing well. Let’s see if there’s a chance to continue on, but of course, there are lots of other players here, so we’ll see.’

From the comments made, it appears that Griezmann’s future will be determined by whether Atlético will look to keep the forward beyond 2026 when the player will be 35 years old. Otherwise, there will be the chance that the former World Cup winner might look to his options internationally. Either way, one thing seems certain, Griezmann will finish playing in Europe as an Atleti player.
