PSG manager Luis Enrique praises “very interesting” Reims: “They are one of the best teams in Ligue 1 in 2023.”

Following their 2-1 Champions League defeat away against AC Milan this week, Paris Saint-Germain will be back in action tomorrow in Ligue 1, welcoming Will Still’s Stade de Reims to the Parc des Princes.

The Belgian manager will no doubt be looking to recreate his exploits from last season when he came back with a point from his team’s trip to Paris, or perhaps do even better. He’ll be counting on last matchday’s goalscorer, Junya Ito, and in-form veteran Teddy Teuma to do so.

Speaking to the press, the Spanish coach admitted the game was “a very difficult match at home“, as transcribed by L’Équipe, identifying the Rémois‘ pressing play as a major tactical element. A similar approach to the one Newcastle United had in their Champions League game against the Parisians, which ended in the Magpies triumphant 4-1 win at home to their French counterparts.

Luis Enrique added, “Reims is one of the best teams in Ligue 1 in 2023. They are aggressive, know how to use the ball, exploit space and carry out a quality press. It will be a difficult match for us.” PSG are currently 2nd in the league, a point behind leaders OGC Nice, who will be playing Montpellier HSC away tonight.
