Yann M’Vila open to Marseille or Lyon move

Yann M’Vila (33) has been a free agent since the expiry of his contract with Olympiacos, however, the former Inter Milan, Stade Rennais, AS Saint-Étienne and Sunderland midfielder is hopeful of a big move.

The former France international was linked with a Premier League move in the summer. Foot Mercato reported that the Frenchman was a candidate to replace João Palhinha (28) at Fulham, however, the latter’s move to the Bundesliga did not come off.

After his spell in Greece, M’Vila is open to a return to Ligue 1, as he told Prime Video SportThe Frenchman notably evoked an interest to move to either Olympique de Marseille or Olympique Lyonnais, two teams whose projects he likes. “I think that my qualities are compatible with these two teams. So why not (move there)!” said M’vila.

Lyon are looking to recruit extensively in January after a difficult first half to the season. A midfielder is reportedly on Les Gones’ wishlist, whilst Marseille could also strengthen next month in order to put themselves back in contention for European football. Another Ligue 1 club, Le Havre AC, were also reportedly in for M’Vila, according to RMC Sport.
