Prem offer for Imbula?

According to La Provence this afternoon, Guingamp have rejected a €8m offer from a Premier League club for Gianelli Imbula. The 20 year old defensive midfielder has been linked with a move away from the club for some time and the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea and Marseille have all scouted the player and are said to have an interest in him.

Imbula publicly linked himself with a move away from the club in January and it was suggested that a move this market would be possible:

“I have a contract until 2015 so let’s see what will happen. Guingamp is my club and they will have their say. Newcastle are in the Premier League, you are talking about a big club, but nothing is done. It is only paper talk.”

Having said that, Guingamp have been promoted to Ligue 1 for this upcoming season and so whether he will have the same desire to leave the club is debatable. If this bid has been rejected, a La Provence claim, then it shows Guingamp do have a strong desire to keep the player and are unwilling to let him go easily.

We, Get French Football News, are trying to confirm this and find out where this bid has come from. Whether this unknown club will make another, improved bid, is yet to be seen.
