PSG’s Nuno Mendes could be set for end-of-January return following nine-month absence

Portuguese full-back Nuno Mendes (21) has not featured for Paris Saint-Germain since sustaining an injury in late April, however, according to L’Équipehe could make his long-awaited return in late January.

After weeks of consideration, the decision to operate on Mendes’ hamstring injury was taken in September. At the time of the operation, PSG evoked a period of absence of around four months, meaning that he could be fit for the end of January.

Beraldo deal signifies Mendes optimism

His entourage has now told L’Équipe that his recovery is on schedule, meaning that Mendes could be fit for the UEFA Champions League encounter against Real Sociedad in mid-February.

Les Parisiens’ transfer plans are also a sign of optimism regarding Mendes’ recovery. It had been reported that the Ligue 1 champions were looking to recruit a full-back in January, with Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rayan Aït-Nouri heavily linked with a move. However, the club’s efforts to sign Brazilian centre-back Lucas Beraldo signifies a shift in focus. It currently looks unlikely that a full-back will be signed next month.
