‘There were four own goals’ – Adi Hütter laments Monaco’s mistakes in heavy PSG defeat

AS Monaco manager Adi Hütter lamented his side’s defensive mistakes during their 5-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain on Friday night.

It was a game riddled with mistakes from Monaco’s point of view. Philipp Köhn spilt the ball as Gonçalo Ramos netted the opener, and Soungoutou Magassa’s sloppy challenge gifted Kylian Mbappé the chance to level from the spot, which he did. It was the young Frenchman who was then at fault for the third, misreading the trajectory of the ball before Ousmane Dembélé’s emphatic finish from a tight angle. Guillermo Maripán then lost the ball for the fourth and also mishit his clearance for the fifth.

Speaking in a post-match press conference, attended by Get French Football News, Hütter said that he considers four out of the five goals conceded by the Principality club as own goals. “Four out of the five goals that we conceded were from our own mistakes. There were four own goals. I am angry about that because when you want to finish in the top three, you can’t make so many errors,” said the Austrian.

After a strong start to the season, Monaco have begun to drop off in recent weeks and have just one win in their last four matches. They will, however, remain third in Ligue 1, regardless of results elsewhere this weekend.
