Official | Clermont sign defender Andy Pelmard from Basel

Clermont Foot 63 have announced the signing of FC Basel centre-back Andy Pelmard (23). The 23-year-old defender returns to Ligue 1 after breaking through at Nice. The OGC Nice youth product joined Swiss side FC Basel on loan in 2021. His move to St. Jakob-Park was made permanent one year ago. Pelmard played a full season with the Swiss League side, which went on to reach the Conference League semi-finals, playing 58 games in total.

According to L’Equipe, Clermont and Basel have struck a €3m agreement for the signing of Pelmard. The defender has put pen to paper on a four-year deal. “I am very happy to join this new project, with a good coach, good players and good ideas”, the Nice youth product said. “I can’t wait to discover the Clermont fans and I hope we’ll have a good season together. I am also looking forward to start the season and reunite with a championship that I know.”

Clermont, who finished a remarkable eighth this past Ligue 1 season, have already announced the signings of centre-back Maximiliano Caufriez, left-back Yoël Armougom and midfielders Habib Keïta as well as Bilal Boutobba.
