Official | Saîf-Eddine Khaoui joins UAE side Khor Fakkan

Clermont attacking midfielder and Tunisia international Saîf-Eddine Khaoui (28) has officially joined United Arab Emirates side Khor Fakkan FC, the club has announced. Khaoui joined the Auvergne side on a free transfer two years ago from Marseille. The 24-time Tunisia international was a crucial cog in Pascal Gastien’s finely-tuned Clermont side this past season, logging seven goals and four assists in 34 Ligue 1 games. Clermont Foot 63 offered Khaoui a contract extension. But the 28-year-old rejected the opportunity to commit his future with last season’s eighth-best Ligue 1 team.

According to L’Équipe, an unnamed La Liga outfit had enquired about Khaoui’s situation. In the end, though, the former Marseille man officially joined the United Arab Emirates and Khor Fakkan FC. The team ended last season’s UAE Pro League in tenth place. Clermont had already anticipated Khaoui’s departure, and the Auvergne side previously wrapped up a deal to sign prolific former Niort attacking midfielder Bilal Boutobba on a free transfer.
