According to The Guardian, Sunderland owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has held positive talks with Reims manager Will Still about taking over as the club’s new manager. The Belgian coach is the favourite to succeed Tony Mowbray as the boss of the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light.
Following positive talks with the Sunderland owner, Will Still is thought to be considering his future at Reims and pondering whether to accept the Championship club’s approach. The Reims boss rose to notoriety last season following an unbeaten 11-match run in charge of the Champagne club which led to an eventual 11th place finish in France’s top flight. Sunderland have had the 31-year-old on their shortlist previously but have only recently made an official approach.
Still has been linked with multiple jobs in France and across the channel in the recent past including Lyon. The former Beerschot manager is open to the possibility of joining the English second-tier club. This is despite the performance of his Reims side in Ligue 1. Les Rouges et Blancs are currently eighth in France’s top flight and sit just 2 points from the Europa Conference League qualification spots.
