Florent Malouda’s son registers assist for his senior debut with Lille

For Aaron Malouda (17), the apple may have fallen not far from the tree. The young winger has registered an assist for his senior debut with Lille. The son of Florent Malouda got the nod from Les Dogues’ coach Paulo Fonseca to start their first pre-season game against Ligue 2 opposition and northern neighbours Dunkerque at Lille’s training ground on Wednesday. Lille ran away 3-1 winners.

The former Stade Rennais youth product, who signed his first professional contract with Lille this summer, wasted no time in making an impression for his first start. The winger showed remarkable pace and dribbling ability to beat his man before forcing the Dunkerque goalkeeper to make a save – Rémy Cabella followed it up in finding the back of the net. Fonseca rang the changes at half-time and Malouda was subbed off.

Aaron Malouda will certainly be one of the prospects to keep an eye on this upcoming Ligue 1 season, and not only because the resemblance with his father is uncanny.
