Rennes predicted XI v Villarreal: Mahamadou Nagida could make first start

With Adrien Truffert at risk of a suspension, Mahamadou Nagida (18) could make his first start for Stade Rennais against Villarreal on Thursday.

Nagida signed for Rennes from Brasseries in Cameroon and made his Ligue 1 debut against AS Monaco over the weekend, coming off the bench, and almost netting an equalising goal. The Cameroonian full-back has already made his UEFA Europa League debut, but he could make his first start against Villarreal, Julien Stéphan may be apprehensive about starting Truffert, who will suspended for the next match should he receive a yellow card against the La Liga side.

Ludovic Blas is also one booking away from a suspension. He is therefore also likely to be rested with a draw enough to see Rennes finish top of their group.

Rennes likely lineup v Villarreal

Steve Mandanda; Arthur Theate, Jeanuël Belocian, Lorenz Assignon; Mahamadou Nagida, Nemanja Matic, Enzo Le Fée, Benjamin Bourigeaud; Martin Terrier, Bertug Yildrim, Amine Gouiri. (L’Éq)
