Sochaux midfielder Rassoul Ndiaye set to join Le Havre for €1m

Sochaux midfielder Rassoul Ndiaye (21) is set to join newly-promoted Ligue 1 side Le Havre, according to a report from L’Equipe. Ndiaye was one the most sought-after Sochaux player after the Doubs club has been given an administrative relegation to third-tier National 1. The 2007 Coupe de France winners may even disappear off the French football map. It is unlikely Sochaux would be able to present a viable budget for next season’s National 1. Should this happen, the Eastern side would face bankruptcy.

Sochaux have therefore released or sold the majority of their professional squad. The French publication understand that Sochaux and Le Havre have struck an €1m agreement for the signing of Ndiaye. Still, the Frenchman’s switch from Sochaux to Le Havre would be complete only if the Doubs side manage to avoid bankruptcy. L’Équipe understand that Ndiaye was targeted by Championship side Watford, Jupiler Pro League outfit Anderlecht and Ligue 1 club Stade Brestois.
