Official | Salim Ben Seghir joins Valenciennes on loan

Eleventh-placed Ligue 2 side Valenciennes have announced the loan signing of promising Marseille striker Salim Ben Seghir (19). The former OGC Nice youth product was short of game time at Marseille, and are set to shuffle their attacking options as Bamba Dieng (22) looks set to move to FC Lorient. Salim is the older brother of Monaco’s Eliesse Ben Seghir (17), who became this Ligue 1’s season youngest goalscorer with his game-winning brace against Auxerre.

The French U19 international left-winger has made two appearances for Marseille this season, playing five minutes in the Coupe de France and three minutes in Ligue 1. The loan move will provide him with more playing time and an opportunity to gain more experience.

Bordeaux was reportedly in the lead for his loan move, but the Nord outfit will be where the Saint-Tropez-born winger will develop his skills. Salim Ben Seghir may feature with the Nicolas Rabuel-led Valenciennes side against third-placed Metz tomorrow evening for Ligue 2 gameweek 20.
