How can PSG win the Ligue 1 title today?

With three games remaining, Paris Saint-Germain have a six-point lead over second-placed RC Lens and could secure back-to-back Ligue 1 titles today, if results go their way.

Olympique de Marseille’s 2-1 loss against Lille OSC on Saturday evening have mathematically removed them from the equation. It is now a two-horse race, although admittedly, it would be an uphill task for Le Sang et Or to dethrone Les Parisiens.

If Lens win…

Lens face FC Lorient on Sunday afternoon. Should they beat Régis Le Bris’ side, they will prevent PSG from mathematically wrapping up the title today. However, should PSG beat AJ Auxerre later this evening, the title would be all-but secured due to Les Parisiens superior goal difference (17 better than Lens’).

If Lens draw…

Should Lens only draw against Lorient, a win for PSG would clinch the title. A draw for Les Parisiens would not mathematically guarantee the title.

If Lens lose…

PSG would only have to better a Lensois loss, meaning that a draw or a victory for Christophe Galtier’s men would seal back-back-to-back Ligue 1 championships. Should PSG lose, they would still retain a six-point gap and a superior goal difference with two-games to go.
